Oh, glad you saw it. I was going to forward you a link!

I can't see the video b/c I'm at work, but I did want to comment about the soccer drama.

At the pool and in the sports arena, I am "that mom" - the one who calls kids out who are exhibiting bad behavior. Our pool has a lot of horseplay and other lawless behavior that the lifeguards don't stop. I just tell the kids to stop it (first, in a nice jokey way "hey, guys . . . ", and after that in the authoritative voice) whether their parents are there or not. The neighborhood moms are universal in support of this attitude on the internet. Who knows what they think of me IRL or if I'm yelling at their kids? Regardless, if the parents or other adults aren't going to step up, then I will.

We've not had so much bad behavior in sports but the overcompetitive thing has already started (6/7 year olds on the 5 yo team, etc) and what was to have been a fun, non-competitive, learning atmosphere pretty much just turned Annika off of the sports (basketball and soccer) entirely. We had better luck in the church league, I will say, though.

Steph, i think i have that monitor mentality, too (being the eldest, i think, has a lot to do with it.)

I appreciate when people call my kids on their behavior, and it drives me CRAZY when people make excuses for their kids' bad behavior.

Do you have a n'hood moms internet group or something?? That is v. organized.

Sorry that the ultra-competitive parents ruined sports for Annika. That sucks.
